(Gower’s type)

DISTAL FORM is relatively rare. The distal muscles of the extremities are first affected and then the disease proceeds centripetally.It is common in Scandinavia. The disease starts between thirty and fifty years. The progress of the disease is slow. Disability is moderate and occurs within a few decades. This is often confused with motor system disease and peroneal muscular atrophy. This is an autosomal dominant disorder.
