There is generalised myotonia which is aggravated by cold associated with weakness. It may be familial.
Though benign in its course it may persist throughout life.
Treatment is same in all 3 type.
Quinine sulphate 300 mg thrice daily or Procainamide 0.5 gm to 1 gm 4 times a day may be of help. Dilantin Sodium 0.3 to 0.5 gm daily and steroids may also be helpful. Recently Tocainide and Mexiletine are also found to be helpful.
