TICK PARALYSIS AMINOGLYCOSIDES DISORDERS

TICK PARALYSIS AMINOGLYCOSIDES DISORDERS is usually occurs in young females by infestation with Tics. After about a week, symptoms develop which include flaccid paralysis of limbs, respiratory muscles and muscles innervated by cranial nerves. This is due to blocking of neuromuscular junction by Tick neurotoxin. Aminoglycoside paralysis due to use of aminoglycosides, e.g, Gentamycin may be associated with similar neuromuscular disturbance as in Botulism but with the stoppage of drug and elimination of the drug from the body the effects disappear. These drugs are avoided in cases of myasthenia.
